Tuesday. My Monday technically since I didn’t do much on Monday.
Yesterday morning was so slow! The driving company wanted all hands on deck because the big oil conference is here this week. All for nothing. I worked from 7am-12:30pm and had 4 drives. That’s it! Sucky morning.
I finally went home and took a nap at 1pm. I overslept and ran back out the door and was online to take riders at 3:30. Not only did I get one right away, I stayed busy until 7pm! I ended up taking 14 people all day and made $97. Not bad for 7.5 hours of work.
4 riders worth mentioning. First, I had this German guy. Very friendly! He came to America and got a green card just a couple of years ago. He tried in another state to join our military but they wouldn’t allow him so he moved and found a job here in Houston as a translator. He told me all about his job and how he did biology back in Germany but there’s not many jobs here for him in his field. Not only did he tip me $5 cash, he tipped me on the app another $2! Sweet guy, long ride, so we chatted quite a bit.
This one poor woman I drove had just had surgery to staple her tailbone after fracturing it a week ago and she is not allowed to sit. She had to lay across the backseat for the ride home from her checkup. I felt so bad for her!
I picked up these 4 girl college students coming from the movies downtown going back to their home near their school. The girls in the backseat were speaking in their native language and the girl sitting up front with me was joking around about how she didn’t understand them. Then she said she was looking for an older man between 25-35 and asked me where to go to meet one. Umm, I don’t know! I told her a bar or church but not the mall because they would probably only be at the mall for family. Is that right? 😂😂😂
My last riders were these 2 college students that said they have been here for 2 years yet never went to the Galleria mall so they were going now. For those that don’t know, the Galleria is our main mall attraction. There are bigger malls and probably better malls, but the Galleria is like the place to go (not to shop but to hang out). So I drove them there and dropped them off in the front to impress them and they seemed to be! The Galleria has all of the mega expensive stores like Neiman Marcus and expensive restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory.
Most riders today were great. I did have a seemingly cranky guy that I picked up at work and took him home but maybe he wasn’t really cranky because he gave me a tip on the app.
Exercise and eating:
I really wanted to start May out right and hit all of my goals. Sitting in a car and sleeping doesn’t help that much though. Once I got home, I ate and then lifted weights (dumbbells). Then I walked the dog to make sure I closed every ring.
I ate pretty well today. I don’t think I had enough carbs but I ran out of calories and I’m not hungry so oh well.
So today is more driving with the company and hopefully Mr. 95 year old is feeling better and will want to go to his regular dinner. I guess I’ll find out. I miss that old man when he’s sick!
Tell me what you think of the rider stories! If you guys like them, I’ll keep posting daily about the people I get.
