Would love a day off

I have tomorrow off work, paid. It’s good, right? NOPE!!!!

I have the following to do:

1. Doctor 9:15am – time for the yearly woman’s physical. No fun, especially when they told me that I also have to get bloodwork done. So I can’t have caffeine or breakfast in the morning either. This is gonna suck!

2. Cook meat pie and whatever else to eat this week. It is a keto meat pie and it is so good! A ton of calories per slice but calories aren’t supposed to matter too much with keto. As long as you don’t have carbs. Okay, even I don’t believe that but I still eat this, just a slice at a time. And after the doctor, I will be starving!

3. Costco for toilet paper, razors, hot dogs, and chips. Razors only if they have the 24 pack of the ones I like. If not, I’ll buy one or 2 at the grocery store until Costco has mine. My son likes their hotdogs and I like buying chips there since it’s cheaper in bulk.

4. Mail game controllers back to Amazon because they didn’t work right. My sons Nintendo Switch controller broke (the switch is almost 2 years old so I’m not mad) and he needs a replacement. Well damn. I tried to save money and get an off brand. Should have known better. I already ordered the Nintendo ones. We shouldn’t have any issues with those, they just cost $20 more.

5. Mail Kansas friends birthday box and check PO Box. Actually, her box has the Christmas card that got sent back to me, a t-shirt for her birthday that just passed, and this for Valentines Day. She’s been with man for years so I thought she might want a new one. 🤣

6. Hair 1:15pm for getting my hair dyed (it’s been like 3 months since I got it done.

I need my blond back!

7. Do taxes. I got all the required tax forms from my jobs so I will do my taxes now so I don’t lose the papers. I’m not expecting a refund since I got a 1099 from one of my clients that passed away last year (well, her son). That’s screwing me. Oh well. Guess I won’t get the twin size bed I have been looking at or get rid of my old nasty carpet.


8. Put letters and $200 for my mechanic in his mailbox at their house. I have to pay him before he will fix my car so this is the first half, plus he got a letter for one of his kids at my house. Why the school doesn’t update to their new address, I have no idea.

9. Cut nails – yes, I have to remind myself to do this as well as shave legs and pluck eyebrows. I am bad about remembering to do things for myself. Especially now that I am so crazy busy all the time!

So that’s my list. A lot to do on my only day off. I wish I could just hang out at home and watch Netflix while getting paid for a day but I can’t see that ever happening with having so much to do. Maybe one day I will be able to take a day off and do absolutely nothing.

Hey y’all

I’m off work the rest of the week. Not for good reasons. I have a sinus infection. The bad part is we do not get paid for sick time so I’m out 2 days of pay.

I love my doctor though. Since I do not have insurance, I self pay. She only charged me $102 for seeing her plus the flu test they gave me. She gave me antibiotics but she knows I hate taking anything so she said don’t take them unless I get worse.

I’ve been transferred to another team at work too. I think it will be better. I wonder if the release of stress from the other team when I got transferred made me vulnerable to get sick. Or maybe I have been sick but it just came out. Who knows.

So I am at home, taking meds, and napping a lot. I hope y’all are having a good day!

I caved and I’m not sorry

I had those cravings for 2 days. Very specific ones too! Luby’s fried fish and a Twix. I decided to cave in to my cravings and I ended up having a great day yesterday!

See? 28 carbs for one entire piece of fried fish. That’s not so bad! With the Twix, I had 27 grams of sugar and a total of 69 carbs for the day. That’s it! I want to do a bit of research on how I used to eat to see how that stacks up. I do not regret my decision, they were both very tasty, and I did not go over my calories for the day. Plus now that I fulfilled those cravings, they are gone and I am right back on track!

I took Ms. Forgets to a kidney doctor yesterday. He seemed like an idiot. Very smiley, gave her a new prescription with a diuretic when the reason we went was because she has constant bathroom issues, and looked into her eyes saying you can tell a kidney problem from there. Really? Is that true? I’m just glad we are going to her regular doctor on Thursday. Maybe she can tell us.

I started the 7th Dexter book yesterday as well. I couldn’t put it down either! I’m over halfway through the book and had to make myself go to sleep at 11pm. It’s that good.

I have been ignoring my phone for a few days now for the most part. I would rather read. I haven’t even turned on Netflix! If you have called, I’m sorry. I just don’t feel like chatting. Text is fine. I missed going to a baseball game yesterday with a friend since I really didn’t want to do anything. I missed chatting with my oldest friend as I was reading and didn’t feel like talking. I’m not in a funk anymore, I feel SO much better, I just still don’t feel like talking. And that’s okay!

It’s 7am and I have to go take Ms. Forgets to therapy at 9:30, take my son to his doctor at 2, then drop him at the movies at 4, then pick him back up later. He wants to go see Slenderman with the same girl he was at the mall with the other day. Based on my sons pool party, the mall, and now going to the movies, maybe this girl likes my son. He doesn’t have a clue, I have just seen the way she looks at him. It’s very cute. I hope he doesn’t break her heart!

At 5:30 this morning, I hear a loud bang outside my bedroom. I jump up and barely crack open my bedroom door. Wouldn’t you know, Oliver has slammed my Mom’s door open and is sauntering out. Geez he scared me! Then he was under my feet when I tried to go downstairs. Crazy cat!

Yes, he likes to be wherever you are, even in the fridge.

Doctor update

Finally I hear back from the doctor!

I went to see her this morning. I woke up at 3:30am, did Lyft for 2 hours (until my Advil wore off and it hurt to drive), then came by my house to eat breakfast, and drove over to meet my new doctor.

She’s great. Really. She didn’t tell me to quit smoking or lose 10 pounds, she refilled my asthma inhaler, and she sent me for an X-ray of my ribs.

So I went and got the X-ray. See me in my beautiful gown! Lol

Then I wait. And wait. Finally at 4pm, her office calls me to tell me that there are NO cracks! Yay!!! She said I can go get a CT scan with contrast if I want to double check my spleen, stomach, intestines, and kidneys but she thinks my rib is just bruised and I just need to take it easy for a few weeks and will be okay. I declined the CT because of cost ($3000 at their imaging place and $350 at the free [HA] clinic). Just no exercise until I heal. There goes that challenge I was doing this month!

I am just so happy that I didn’t injure myself more than I did! Woo hoo!

I am letting my son skip karate tonight to go to the church laser tag night. He has his first belt test next weekend so he has to practice but I am not making him do it tonight. He also read the school book and said he really liked it which impressed me. Now he just has 4 school assignments to go along with it to do. School starts in less than 2 weeks so he really needs to get moving on that!

Amber was being cute at 4am ready to go for a walk (that would be a hell no – I don’t leave my house until 5am no matter what).

I also did my pictures a little late for the end of July and then did a comparison photo.

Not feeling it today

I woke up, stood up, and fell right back into bed with a dizzy spell like you wouldn’t believe! I’m not sick but my goodness I am dizzy!

I have an appointment with a dermatologist today to look at skin tags and moles. My, my, how fun, right? She is great though and is not charging me an arm and a leg to remove one. Thank goodness for that!

I am then going to go get some Propel Zero to mix with water because the only thing I can think of is that my electrolytes are low. Don’t know what that is? Potassium, magnesium, and calcium as well as chloride and phosphates. I’m trying that first. I would love to just eat a banana and be done but there are WAY too many carbs in a banana! If I’m still dizzy in a couple of days, then I promise to go see a doctor. Of course it could be that it’s about to be “that time of the month” as well. Guess we will find out!

I drink my water, I take my vitamins, and I exercise. I eat pretty well too and I don’t want to add any more pills as my vitamins are 7 pills a day already! So we shall see if this works. I’m not ready to think it’s anything bad like vertigo.

Obviously I am not cooking today either. I put the meat in the freezer so it won’t go bad and I am just dealing with leftovers which is fine!

I wanted to catch up on blogs and let y’all know what’s going on but now I’m getting off here because trying to look at it and read is not helping me any. Hugs!

Lots of good days lately

Even though I dropped and completely shattered the iPad screen (on carpet I might add), the picture is still fine. It is definitely hard to watch anything though! I’m stuck using my tv to watch Netflix until I can afford to get this fixed. I got taken off the waitlist and am now in 3 classes starting August 20th including Precalculus, Biology, and my first Nutrition class. This may be tough but I already talked to my friend that has a math degree and my nurse friend and they are going to help tutor me this year in addition to the schools free tutoring. I can do this!I had a follow up appointment at my podiatrist yesterday where I was told I need to come every 2 weeks for 2 more months for more injections and treatment to make sure I stayed better. At $100 a pop too! They took pictures of me as my ending treatment photos and asked that I send beginning photos so I did that too. What amazes me is that I can almost hide behind an 8X11 piece of paper. Who would have ever thought that the 400 pound girl would weigh in the 160’s 20 years later???I have changed a lot in these past 3 months on keto. It was like my body said FINALLY! All I had to do was take sugar out of my diet and lower my carbs. Simple, right? Uhh, no! Better for my body? YES! image from Pinterest My son scared me to death this morning. He barely makes any noise opening my door 5 minutes after my alarm went off and said “Mom”. I practically jumped out of my skin and my heart was racing! He said he was going for a walk this morning. I told him to go to the gym. Crazy child wants to walk down the street! At least he’s not crossing major intersections, he just walks in a big circle around the block. Still scares me to death though!I love my son. His father called me yesterday to ask about that gaming truck I had for his birthday because his boss wants to use it. Lol It was pretty cool!Today I take Styled to get her hair and nails done. I will then come home and put the brisket in the oven on 250 for 10 hours so it will be done at 10pm tonight. Yes, I will take pictures, I promise! Have a great Friday the 13th!

Monday yet again

I did NOT go walking. It is SO hot here! 95 before the heat index kicks in. I went swimming instead.

I watched iZombie for a while too. My mother royally pissed me off yesterday morning. Her cat bit me so I told her that this is why I don’t play with them much. She called me a baby! I wasn’t crying or anything silly, I was stating a fact. I have thin skin and it gets torn easy. No reason to be rude like that! That does not make me want to keep living there and helping her. There have been so many times that I have wanted to take my savings and just go pay for a place of my own again. I’m dealing only because my Dad asked me to before he passed.

I did not do much else other than make this mug cake on keto and it was alright, I’m going to try other recipes to see what I want to make for my birthday. My son is not complaining about trying cake either! I want him to like it too so it makes it a bit harder.

My son woke me up at 5:50am today so I figured I would go drive for Lyft before my doctors appointment this morning. I took 3 rides and had nice people. My last ride was in Pasadena which I don’t really know anything about when it comes to driving. It was a kid that I was taking to work. He said his boss will fire him if he’s not 10 minutes early. How crazy is that?

Now at the doctors office and then have to go pick up Miss Priss in Galveston. Then I’m off for the day. That means I will have plenty of time to go to the gym. I’m trying to decide what I want to do today. Elliptical, treadmill, bike, weights. So many choices!!!

Crazy day as usual

So my car alarm was fixed for free and I bought a new car stereo yesterday. I love it! It has Bluetooth already in it, it plays music from my phone, Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio, anything! I can even hook up XM radio if I wanted to!

I rushed home, cooked an egg and bacon in the microwave since I hadn’t eaten and it was noon, and then rush off and picked up Ms. Forgets to drive her to therapy. It’s a 25 minute drive!!! We got there right on time and had to sit in the waiting area for 30 minutes anyway before they finally call her back. She’s back there for an hour. Then she wants to go get cigarettes because her daughter won’t buy them for her. Lol!!! The woman is 77. If she wants to smoke, let her! I took her where I go to get them and she looked at her receipt and was so impressed because where she usually goes, it costs twice as much. She said she spent $50 for 5 packs of cigarettes at a gas station near her house and I got her a carton for $66. We both buy smokes (well, I went in for both of us) and I take her home where we sit in her garage and have one together before I leave. I come home and my mom says, “Julie (imagine a VERY irritating mom voice), you smell like smoke!” So I look at her and say, Well Mom, I was just with Ms. Forgets so of course I do! Now, please note that my mother knew this woman WAY back in the day. Her reply was, “Oh, she still smokes like a chimney?” So I said sure and she LEFT ME ALONE! Woo hoo! I need to drive this woman more often! I won’t get bitched at for smoking! I love this client!

Mr. 95 year old called me while I was with her and said he wants to go to dinner. I’m like sure! So I came home to eat and then went to pick him and Mr. Happy up. With my new car stereo, I hooked up Pandora for the ride home and played 40’s music. They loved it! I’m going to have to play it more often for my clients now that I can.

Today I have to go get my shots. This treatment is working too. When I started this 8 weeks ago, my feet would go numb when I was walking and tingling all the time. Throughout this process, I went to actual pain in my heel, extra numbness up my leg, and still had numbness and tingling in my feet when I exercised. Now, I only go numb with the shots for a day each week and only tingly when I sit funny for a while. I would definitely say that is progress! I have 4 weeks left and I pray that he says I don’t need surgery after this. I’m working really hard on the diet, my exercise (even though I didn’t get any yesterday), and everything else he tells me to do.

That reminds me! I am supposed to have a talk with my doctor today about giving a class once a month at his office to teach people keto! Wouldn’t that be cool? So in preparation, I am going to go to the grocery store before my appointment today and write down different products along with their nutritional information and pictures so I can show him that I can make it easy for anyone to do this, even the people that don’t cook. I already printed out a bunch of keto recipes and made a word document with a bunch of recipe sites to help people and gave it to them yesterday. Wish me luck! Even if people paid me $20 each to come to the class, that would help me as well as help them learn how to eat on the diet the doctor wants us on. Speaking of the diet, I think I did well yesterday.

Monday has gone…whew!

Yesterday I had my weekly shots and work. Here is a quick recap of the day:

7-8:30 drive for Lyft

9-10 doctor visit and shots

10-12:30 drive for Lyft

1-3:30 take new client for X-ray

4-5 at home to eat and chat with son

5-7:30 drive for Lyft

At 9pm last night, my son tells me he’s getting an award for his grades this year. Since the kids have to dress up, I tell him to try on his suit. You should have seen it! It’s only been a year since we bought it. The pants could now almost be capris and the shirt wouldn’t button around his belly!

I take a picture of the award letter and send it to my son’s father who says, “I’ll try to make it” 🙄 I send it to my bestest friends and they are all happy and excited for him. I give it to my mother and she says, “Again? He’s such a smart kid!” He got an award last year too. So today I have to take him out of school a little early and go buy him a new suit. Well, slacks and a nice shirt. Coat and tie are not required.

I am very proud of him. I just wish he wasn’t growing so fast!!! 5’9, 175 pounds, and still 12 years old for another month??? Crazy!

So after all this, he tells me (not asks) that he needs eggs in the morning. Excuse me??? I give him a funny look and he says, “Mother, will you make me eggs in the morning?” I answer “We’ll see”. I was asleep by 11pm and he was asleep by 10.

This morning, my alarm goes off at 5am and I decide to make eggs for breakfast as well as croissants for him. I made 4 eggs and those packaged croissants that he loves. I text him when everything was done at 5:40 and 5 minutes later, he’s downstairs ready to eat. Maybe I should make breakfast more often? I’m so glad it got him out of bed!! I ate one of the eggs too so it was win-win.

I am driving for Lyft again today. You may notice that I’m not mentioning Uber. I need to make 40 more drives for Lyft (after yesterday) to get my sign on bonus. I figure why not do it this week and just have that done. Lyft slows down around 10am until around 1-2pm which sucks. So I scheduled to go get groceries for a client during that time. When I went for her last week, it was the first time and I was very nervous about picking the right fruits for her and getting everything correct. So when she asked me to do it again today, I was happy since I must have done a great job!

This is my life. I got a total of 3 new clients that need help sometimes which is good for me. I’d like to make at least $500 a week so I can save money. I’m getting there!

Different kind of day for me

Started out normal. Wake up at 5, shower at 5:30, wake kid up at 6, out the door by 7. He wanted donut holes so we left a few minutes early and went by Shipley’s. Then I took him to school and off I went to to get my blood drawn. Then to the doctor. Then home.

Now my plan WAS to go to work. That didn’t happen. I was asleep by 1pm and did not wake up until 3:30! My sons karate class is at 6 so I didn’t want to risk being across town so I didn’t work. Didn’t cook either.

While he was in karate, I decided to get off my arse and get a workout in. I ended up doing 45 minutes on the treadmill. I started with a plan of 30 minutes and then just kept going for 45.

I was a little red when I finished. I was sweating before I even started and have no clue what that’s about but I still did it!

Before I went to the gym, I looked in my mothers purse cabinet to find a small bag that I could put over my shoulder while I was working out and walking to and from the gym. What I found was even better! I found my dad’s fanny pack. I tried it on and it fit. I am so excited that I can wear something that small (my dad was pretty thin). I had my friend put it around her waist and I only need about 2-3 more inches to be her size! Woo hoo! Another non scale victory!

I also went through all of the keys that were hanging up in the kitchen. I tested every key on every lock and these are the ones that don’t fit a darn thing in our house.

We ended up with about 7 keys hanging up. And 2 are neighbors from where I used to live! I need to take those to them. Well, grandma (my friends grandmother that has told me to call her grandma) will probably tell me to keep hers.

My dinner was a little weird. 2 slices cheddar cheese, 2 slices Monterey Jack jalapeño cheese, a low carb tortilla with butter and Himalayan salt, and 2 peanut butter keto cookies.

That’s different, right? Lol I enjoyed every bite!

And my calories/macros were great too! It was a good day even though I made $0. There’s always today!

Today I will be driving for the company. I slept well and got exercise so I should be good to go!
