Going home today

Yep. Gotta go home. Hotels have early check outs here! We have to check out by 11am. I guess we will go find a place to eat or something.

Yesterday we drove to LA. What a gorgeous drive!!!

I have now finally seen a Del Taco and In N Out burger place too. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We parked on Hollywood Blvd and walked about a mile looking at stars. Here are my favorites.

Here is Hollywood and Vine intersection too! Sorry it’s a bit far away but it’s not like I could get both standing up close.

Then we drove up to see the Hollywood sign. When I was 14, my mom and I made this drive on Mulhulland Dr and we were on the side of a cliff on a dirt road. It was scary back then. So much has changed (it HAS been 30 years)!!! The drive is all paved, there’s a concrete wall and fence above it where we used to be on the edge of the cliff, and of course all the homes that are up there now. It was crazy!!!

Please let me remind people of one thing. When you are parking your vehicle on a steep road and you are going downhill, turn your wheels towards the curb when you park. If something happened and your car started to move, it would not go down the road or into traffic if you do that. There was only ONE other car up there that did that! I just kept thinking that there could be so many problems!!!

After about 3 hours spent in LA, we drive back to Vegas so I could go meet with Authoress51. The drive back was still gorgeous!!! I love mountains (especially with snow on top๐Ÿ” )!

She gave me the book she wrote and I was so excited! It’s a cute book. Y’all should look it up and get it!

I got an interview at the gym!!! They set it up for next Tuesday morning. I am so excited!!! The good thing is that they all know me so they know how hard I worked to get where I am and how often I am there anyway between my exercise and my sons karate class.

I haven’t really gotten formal exercise while I’ve been here although I have been walking around. I have been eating pretty much nothing but crap too. I will be back on track tomorrow morning. I am thinking I may go to the gym and go running to help get some of these toxins out of my system!

Happy Wednesday

Yesterday you guys already know that I worked out early. I finished Queer Eye and started Flint MI show. It’s not about the water issues either, it’s about the police force. Not what I was expecting but it’s not bad. I much more enjoyed Queer Eye.

I made the keto fried fish last night but nothing else because it made a lot! No carbs in that AT ALL! I love my air fryer!

I woke up at 5:30 this morning so I haven’t been to exercise yet. Today is arm day plus I have to do my 40 second plank. I can do that at home.

I hit my 2 months of no cigarettes!!!

I need to study for my exam Saturday morning. No Netflix today!

Exams…EEK

I had my first Anatomy lab exam this morning.

53 total questions. 10 were multiple choice. 40 (!!!) were fill in the blank. 3 were looking into a microscope to see which phase of mitosis the cell was in.

I think I did pretty well but guess I’ll find out next week!

This afternoon I have a job taking a woman to her doctor. I have driven her before but not to doctors offices. I hope that goes well.

I have another exam from my Anatomy lecture class on Friday. I’m on chapter 4 of 5 to prepare for that. I also have a chapter in Kinesiology due Friday and a discussion thing due in nutrition on Friday.

The next few days are going to be nonstop school but I think I have figured out a good way to study. I study for an hour and then take a 30 minute break. Last night I watched an episode of Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix between each one hour study session. And I felt prepared today! Let’s see if this works with my lecture exam.

I have to get groceries today. I have been putting it off as I had lots of snacks to munch on. Too much sugar and too many carbs later, I am done. I have to get back on track. I don’t have any clothes if I gain weight!!! This morning I was 151. Nope. Not gaining any more! Obviously I don’t have much time to meal prep today and tomorrow but after I am done on Friday, I am cooking up a storm! I want to already have the food here waiting to be cooked which is why I’m going to the store today.

Cookies for my son and keto ones

Can you tell I’m going back to keto? I am not trying to get under 150 so I will have to eat more calories. I felt healthier when I was not having all the carbs so I’m going back.

Any other ideas would be great. Any helpful study tips too. Comment please!

So tired yet again

It has been a crazy couple of days!

Monday – 4 hours of errands with Miss Priss. I came home, got out the Christmas tree (the cats seem to love the bag we keep it in) and met with my moms friend to put the lights on our Christmas tree.

Picked up my son and his friend at school and then home to just talk to Cranky’s son and bake gingerbread men cookies. Recipe is from AllRecipes and it turned out great! So great that when I had a couple of broken men, I had to eat them to put them out of their misery. I ate 3 of them. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Today – oh man what a day! I left the house at 8am to go to the hospital. I sat in traffic and finally got to the medical center at 9, drove around the garage for 15 minutes looking for parking, then had to go find Cranky’s room. I stayed there and got to speak to the doctor. She has bacterial pneumonia.

Her son flew down to check on her so when he arrived at the hospital, I took his caregiver to go get her car from her dealership where she was having it fixed. I got home at 2pm and left soon after to pick my son up at school. Then Cranky’s son called to ask me to pick up her prescriptions from the hospital because they were sending her home. So I left again as soon as I dropped off my child, took care of that, and came back home at 5pm.

The caregiver called and said that Cranky is bringing home oxygen and would I meet her there to help her get everything upstairs. So I went back to Cranky’s, got her wheelchair, and went down to wait on them. One of Cranky’s church friends showed up while I was waiting. I didn’t know somebody else was coming! When the caregiver got there, we unpacked everything and went upstairs to her place. The valet guys helped immensely too! I didn’t realize how much they sent her home with. So much stuff.

Cranky’s church friend then went and got us all dinner from Luby’s cafeteria. Cranky got chicken, the caregiver got liver and onions, and I got my favorite fried fish. While we were waiting for her to come back, a guy showed up to deliver an oxygen machine. He got her all set up, I signed my life away for it (sarcasm is awesome), and Cranky’s son and I text back and forth about a hospital bed rental. I will call around in the morning and see if I can get one delivered there tomorrow. We are afraid she will try to get up in the middle of the night and fall so this will help. Her legs are very weak and she can’t stand for long. She is going to complain like crazy if we take her bed away from her. I am not looking forward to this!

I honestly hope all of this equipment is not permanent. I really do love Cranky like a second mother (helps that I’ve known her over 30 years). I hate that she needs all this and is so confused. She said she is going to kill her son for moving her stuff again (she moved into her apartment a year and a half ago though). She wouldn’t listen to me about that. She said she carpooled me to school which is how she knows me. She usually calls me her neighbor. Her son said to just say she’s my aunt. He’s probably right, that’s easier. Maybe she can remember that too.

I am finally home at 9pm and tired!!! I’m about to go to bed. I’m sure I will need to go back over there tomorrow and give her caregiver a break after spending 2 full days with Cranky being sick and having to sleep in the hospital. I haven’t even started studying for my math final yet and it’s in 5 days!!! Eek!!!

Holidays

Well, H didn’t show up last night. She drove home instead. She had a hard time with our math exam. So I am going to ask my mom to help me. I will have to hold the phone to video while she folds and puts names into a bowl.

I didn’t go to school so early today. I waited until noon to go since class isn’t until 2:30. I took my friend S some of my homemade mac and cheese and she liked it.

I made enough I think!

My son took off to a friends house until tomorrow and he asked me to please wash his sheets. He started his clothes and I had to put them in the dryer. There were so many stuffed into the washer, the dryer has taken 2 hours to dry it all. ๐Ÿ™„

I’ll post as soon as I explain to my mother how this needs to work. This should be interesting!

Korean Festival

In case I have any stalkers, thanks for not following me around today! Lol

I had a lot of fun! I was there around 2-3 hours, walked 8,000 steps, and ate all the good food! No kimchi though. I don’t do shrimp and they didn’t have vegan kimchi. Maybe next time!

Here is my math friend Z. She’s the one that invited me and I am so glad she did. I didn’t buy all this food. We both bought it and both tried everything. We each spent $25 on food too. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

I enjoyed the k-pop music, the women playing the drums, the people in costumes, and the dancers!

All and all, a great afternoon! I studied all morning, well, 4 hours to be precise. I did all of my Anatomy work and half of the nutrition work. I obviously did not finish my nutrition lecture but I will do more tomorrow before I go learn functions at my friends house. I am taking tonight off of studying. Going to have a beer and watch Netflix!

The past 2 days

I’ve been a little busy!

Sunday:

Woke up. Took the kid to church. Went to the grocery store and got all the veggies. I bought asparagus, spinach, onion, jalapeรฑos, bell peppers, and zucchini. I have been craving them and I can’t sit around and wait for mine to grow (although they are doing so well)! Picked up kid at church. Went to his godparents house for math tutoring. Came home and went to a workout class called Bodypump where you use a weight bar and dumbbells for an hour workout. My neighbor and I both went. The class was packed but we had spots and I did all the exercises, only with 2.5 pound weights so it was too easy. The instructor told me to try 5 pounds next time. I will. Why not try, right?

Came home and got a call that I was late to dinner with a client. Ran by Walgreens for birthday cards and rushed to the nursing home to eat with the 2 birthday girls, one is 96 and the other is 87. Ate filet mignon (over cooked but oh well) and broccoli with some weird looking reddish brown spice on it with no taste (I added salt and it was fine). Only had 9 carbs all day. Went home only to turn around and go back out to the store to buy cupcakes for my school groups bake sale. In bed by 10 and so tired!

Monday:

Woke up at 6. Took the kid to school at 7:30. Drive to my college to give them the cupcakes. I had left them in the car so my son wouldn’t see them overnight but they looked fine in their trays in the morning as the overnight temps are in the 70’s. I hope they made lots of money at the sale!

Came home and made a quiche with chorizo, spinach, and onion. I’m afraid to eat it, it looks burnt. I may try it in the morning, it may taste wonderful but it might be awful. There’s no cheese in it and I am definitely a cheese freak so we shall see.

Then I studied math. I got really frustrated after a couple of hours (around lunchtime) and decided to take a client’s umbrella to her that she left in my car under the seat over a week ago and so I just found it the other day. Then I came back home and studied some more.

My son and I were at the gym at 5:45pm. He went to karate and I went to a class called Bodyjam. It’s a dance class. I didn’t think I was really doing much but I burned some calories!

Then I came home and caught up on my reading on WordPress and asked my child to see if he could find and try on his leather jacket from 5th grade (note he’s in 8th grade now) since winter is coming. ๐Ÿ˜‚ (Sorry I laughed, winter in Houston can be a joke sometimes). It was in his closet. I couldn’t find it with the jackets downstairs and didn’t want to go in his room. He tried it on and then stomped in my room and threw it on my bed saying “It doesn’t fit” with a look like he didn’t care one bit. What do I do? I tried it on. And guess what? IT FIT!!!

I can’t believe it. There is no size tag in the jacket and it was 3 years ago so I don’t remember what size he wore. But I am excited! I can’t wait for cooler weather. I will be styling in a kid’s black pleather jacket from Amazon (pleather is fake leather). ๐Ÿคฃ

I ate cottage cheese for dinner with some cornbread and butter last night. Best dinner ever lately! Sounds silly but it really hit the spot. Only 18 carbs all day too. That’s 2 days in a row full on keto and not going over 20 carbs! I will drop these last 5 pounds. I’m getting excited!!! Especially after putting on the jacket that fit my son when he was 10 years old.

Today is a school day. I got an email yesterday saying that a garage spot opened up if I want it. YES I want it!!! To not have to get on that stupid bus anymore would be the best! I am going to the parking office bright and early and signing up and then moving my car. I can’t wait!

I am meeting with my friends from math class after Anatomy to study for our test next week. I hope they can help me. I get so frustrated so easily with math!

Have a good Tuesday. My neighbor and I are going to some class at the gym tonight that has to do with using pulleys to make you use your own weight for strength training called TRX.
