Christmas Tag

Hunida posted this for anyone that wanted to do it and it looks fun so I thought I would give it a whirl. Thank you for the fun questions at Christmastime!

Hunida’s questions:

1. What does your perfect wrapping paper look like?

A bag 😂 I used to wrap presents but it is so time consuming and people just throw it away so I now use bags that can be reused to help the planet just a little bit.

2. Have you been to any Christmas festivals or light shows this year?

I wanted to go look at lights (we have an entire themed neighborhood near here) but I would have been alone so I decided to just look at lights that my friend text me when she took her boys out.

BFF in Fort Worth TX with her boys:

3. What will you be having for dinner on Christmas?

We have decided that we are going to eat at Saltgrass Steakhouse for our Christmas dinner. They are open from 11-4 so I called and got a reservation.I wanted to do a La Madeleine dinner but found out you had to buy 10 people worth and there are only 3 of us. Why waste the money? And to buy a 12 pound turkey or 10 pound ham and cook it, half would be wasted at least after a week in the fridge.

4. Have you ever had to travel for Christmas?

When my son was 6 months old, before my divorce, we drove to Kansas and Arkansas to have Christmas with his family and to visit my aunt before she passed. It was a great week long vacation and traffic wasn’t that bad (or i blocked that part from my memory or I don’t remember if it was).

5. What was your absolute favorite gift you ever received?

That’s a tough call! Was it the Barbie Dream House I got when I was 8? Was it the Astros shirt my aunt gave me the Christmas before she passed when I was 32? Was it that my son survived pneumonia when he was 6 (that was a hard Christmas as he didn’t even want to open presents as he laid on the couch barely moving – I didn’t sleep for 2 weeks).

6. Do you know how to ice skate?

I used to. I live near the Houston Galleria Mall with a huge skating rink in the middle that I used to have a great time at. I’m sure I would fall flat on my face if I tried it now.

7. Do you give your snowmen a real scarf and a carrot nose? If you’ve never made one, would you?

A real scarf and hat, yes. I don’t think I’ve ever used a real carrot because I’m afraid of nighttime animals coming out and pulling my snowman down to eat the carrot. Yes I live in Houston but I have traveled to places with snow so I have built several snowmen with my Dad in the past.

8. Is there one specific thing you are really hoping to open up this year?

An envelope stuffed with cash would be nice but not going to happen. So no, I just want to let my son open his stuff up and hope he likes it (he only asked for cash).

9. Do you think pets should get presents too?

Of course! We have 6 stocking hung, one for each person and one for each animal. You may have seen what I got Amber in my post from my trip and I hope she loves her new toy! My mom got the cats a gift too.

10. Did you buy anything new or special to wear on Christmas?

When I was on my trip, I got a set of pajamas to wear on Christmas morning. I’m sure it will end up in photos!

11. What are your favorite Christmas colors?

I love the classic red and green but also think light blue is good.

12. What do you think of The Elf on the Shelf?

Oh that stupid toy that somebody came up with to torture parents with. You have to move it every night or make it do something crazy to “teach your kids to behave”. Uh huh, right. It ended up sitting on our shelf for 2 straight years because I don’t have time for that!

I do follow a great blogger that has crazy adventures for her Elf though. Y’all should check her out! Choppy.

I tag anyone that wants to do this. It was fun! I love the Christmas season!

My questions:

1. Do you have something that goes in your stocking every year?

2. Do you wake up early to open gifts or just not care and sleep in?

3. Of you don’t have kids or family near you, do you still decorate and celebrate by yourself?

4. Does it snow for Christmas where you are?

5. What’s your all time favorite present to give?

6. Do you do Friendsmas? If so, how?

7. If you have one, do you think your pet knows or cares about Christmas?

8. Is there something special you eat just for Christmas?

9. Are you traveling this year? Tell details!

10. Not a question, just have a very Merry Christmas! 🎄

Nominated for some award I think

I got these questions from my buddy Andrea at and I don’t remember the award she nominated me for but I promised I would answer the questions so here they are!

Question to answer:

  1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? (the most annoying question on earth, I know)

In 5 years, I plan on being a new graduate from university and looking for a job in another country. J Maybe near a friend I met on WordPress 😉

  1. If you could go to the moon for free, would you?

I would love to go to the moon. When I was growing up, I wanted to be an astronaut. As I got older and heavier, it was not a possibility for me so would I go now, definitely!!! I would even do the astronaut training!

  1. What is your biggest fear?

It may sound crazy, I fear that my son will hurt himself or my mother will die in her sleep.

  1. In what do you find yourself more brave than others?

Does going back to school at 45 count? LOL

  1. If you could have one non pet as a pet (and it wouldn’t be dangerous), what would it be?

I would love to own a horse…I know that I would have to have either the land or a place to keep it and I would have to have money but I would still like it. I would ride it every chance I got too!

  1. What makes you peaceful and what makes you nervous?

Peaceful times when everything around the house is clean and there is nothing for me to do. Nervous would be every single time my son has friends over – I still think back to the one day that he threatened a friend so I worry every time now!

  1. What is one of your qualities which could be both positive for most but negative for others?

Hmm, tough question! Maybe that I am always happy? I know it drives some people insane. I don’t let most people know how I feel so I look happy all the time.

  1. Which country would you visit just for the food?

Just about any country! Mexico would be my first choice though. I’ve mentioned before that I should be from there. J

  1. Do you remember your first kiss? Care to share the story?

Oh yes. 7th grade. Ben. First kiss at church in the little kids plastic walk through thing. LOL

  1. What was your most embarrassing moment? Having my bra stuck to my sweater in the mall!
  2. Do you prefer blinds or curtains?

I prefer to have both. Blinds to keep it dark and light blocking curtains for the rest of the light. During the day, I open my curtains and blinds but when I am asleep, I need it pitch black!!!

Thank you Andrea for the nomination and for the questions. J

Happy Sunday to ya

Yesterday was good. I finished The Flash on Netflix and started iZombie. I used the dumbbells and jogged/danced between sets and got my 30 minutes of exercise in.

I was out walking my dog yesterday and had a neighbor take a full body picture of me. I then compared it to the me from 1996. Wow.

I cleaned a bit and found Amber’s harness that I thought I had lost. I put it on her and left it until we went for a walk. Well, i don’t know how she does this, but when I was ready to go out, she had her legs out of the harness! How is that possible? This picture is with the harness on correctly just to show you how difficult I think it would be to get out!

Today: We have church this morning. Then no plans so I figure I will be walking at the gym and watching iZombie. Oh! I got my new Keto chips in the mail and I am excited to try them. I also ordered what my son needs for his week of camp. Basically sandals for the beach and a couple of shirts that are church appropriate. I don’t know how they would feel about him wearing Deadpool t-shirts!

6 days until my son’s birthday and 17 days until mine. So this whole weighing thing. I wanted to be at 175 by my birthday. Since I can’t weigh, I am making sure I get out and raise my heart rate for 30 minutes a day doing something. It is only 7 pounds away (from May 31st) and I can do that in a month when I am trying. So I am! On July 1st, I really want my weight to be where I want it to be. I’m even going to make myself a keto birthday cake so I don’t go off plan. I found a few recipes for them so why not? I can do this and I know you guys can do this too! And remember, if you need any help, I’m here for you. You can reach me on Instagram at juliehcares or by email

I have been going back and forth about skin removal surgery. I really am not sure I want to be on television showing everyone my entire body, going through that pain with cameras around me, having a silly reveal party like they do at the end of each show. Now, the flip side. I have lost over 200 pounds and really have issues with the skin. It flops around when I exercise, it looks disgusting, and it makes me still feel really fat when I sit down. I am not one for pain. I also hate pain pills. So I am still thinking about it. At the end of this year, I MAY go see a surgeon about my stomach area and chest. Or maybe not. I am really afraid of the pain I see these people in!

What are your thoughts on skin removal? Do you know how a dog gets out of their harness? What are you up to this Sunday?

Hey y’all!

Good morning! I am already working as usual on Saturday mornings. Taking “not Stinky” (I really need a new name for her) to get her hair done and run errands. Then I go see Sleepy for 4 hours and then to see Forgetful for an hour. That’s today. I’m off tomorrow and I promised my son I would cook so he would have good food this week.

When I was trying to figure out who my biological parents were, I found a man that could have been my father. We did a dna test and he’s not but we became buddies until such time as he would scream and yell at me every time I called him about how I’m raising my son, why I don’t call more, etc etc. I blocked his number and told him why I wasn’t going to talk to him. Well, today is his birthday so I’m trying to figure out if I should risk calling him. It’s been a few months since I’ve spoken with him. What do you guys think? I figure I have over 200 readers so I could get a few viewpoints on this!

Yesterday, the stress test machine broke right as my client was supposed to be tested so it ended up being a really long day, 7 hours with her and then an hour and a half with Forgetful. No fun.

I had a chance to sit down with my mother this morning. She was talking about the holidays. She wants us to hang out with her all day and possibly go to the movies. I tried to explain why I don’t go to the movies anymore (anxiety in crowds) but she heard money and almost shouts that she would pay “of course”. That’s NOT the issue although I don’t like paying $20 just to see a movie when I can wait a couple months and it’s free online (Netflix or HBO). So now she wants me to think of something we can do as a family for after we eat. God help me. I’ve never been especially close to my mother, I was always a Daddy’s girl and would watch football sitting next to him all day. I don’t know what to do with her! And my son definitely doesn’t want to hang out with grandma all day. Ideas?

I’m sleeping in my box, leave me alone!

So that’s it. Just questions, no answers today. I hope you guys have a wonderful, enjoyable, lazy Saturday!

Sweet Blogger Award

Hunida has nominated me for this award. Thank you! It is so sweet and nice to be nominated for any award, but especially for a sweet blogger award!

What is your favorite snack?

My favorite snack of all time would have to be Oreos. I don’t eat them much anymore but if offered with a glass of milk, I’m there!

What is your favorite show on Netflix?

That’s a hard question! I want to say lately it’s Ozark. I can’t wait for Season 2. All time, I would probably say Between even though I believe it was cancelled.

What do you use to blog on?

So far I have only used my phone. It’s so easy!

Do you shower every day?

Usually, sometimes I skip if I’m sick or I’m not going anywhere.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

Since I can’t wish for more wishes, I would like to wish that when I die, it’s quick and not drawn out like some of these cancers and diseases are. (Morbid I know)

Do you believe in ghosts?

Definitely! I believe my grandmother watched over us after she passed.

What is the best gift you have ever received on any occasion?

The best gift I ever got was my iPad. I watch Netflix on it, I can take it anywhere, and even though it’s already 5 years old, it works great!

What are your daily, go to shoes?

I am always wearing flip flops unless it’s just freezing and then I wear tennis shoes.

Do you have any special talents and what are they?

I’m good at scrapbooking. Everyone that has ever seen the book I made on myself and for my son said it was made really well. My other special talent is dealing with dementia patients with patience and empathy.

Do you have a phone case on your phone and if so, what does it look like?

Everyone should have a case on their phone! Mine is black with a card pouch on the back. I also have glass on the front to protect the phone in case of a fall.

My nominees are all of the beautiful women that blog and read my post. My questions are the same I was asked. I like them!
