Eat fresh and if you can, cook for yourself!

I had to look up fda.gov and see what products have been recalled in the past month. This is sad. This is also why I prefer to not eat out and cook for myself where I know it’s the correct temperature and cooked correctly.

There’s even prescription medicines on this list in the past month! Vitamins, snacks, breads, and even salads! I seriously think I need to learn how to grow my own veggies. I don’t pretend to understand why all this happens. It just seems like the more industrialized we get here, the worse the food gets for us.

Hopefully a good Sunday

But let me tell you about yesterday first. I made a YouTube video! It is of what keto food stuff I have in my house right now. My son had a friend over and my mom had gone to a party so I was able to make the video with no issues, the cats weren’t even bugging me!

I am going to try to do more of them too, like when I am cooking. I found this great app that will take your videos and cut them so you can put them on Instagram as well called Cut Story. It was free so I took my video and cut it and posted it to Instagram too! It ended up being 32 15 second clips 😂

I had ordered the new Fat Snax lemon cookies and made a short video of opening the package and eating one. They are amazing! So I changed my personal story on Instagram because I want to get freebies if I can. I see so many people getting stuff in the mail from companies and people so why not! Especially if I am going to be showing people what I’m eating. I guess I need to get a P.O. Box if I am going to do that though so maybe not yet. I probably need more than 280 followers on there too!

Hi. My name is Julie and I am a snacker. I will usually eat a real breakfast and real dinner but lunch is usually snacks. I’m either watching Netflix, driving, or don’t feel like going downstairs to deal with my mother so I have snacks for lunch. It works for me.

I did not go walking yesterday but I did do 30 minutes of yoga. It kicked my butt too!

Since my arm is still sore from lifting weights the other day, maybe today I will walk. I guess we’ll see! If I could get myself moving before 9 am, I could walk outside in the morning before it gets so hot. I just can’t seem to do it! Like now. It’s 7:20am and it’s already 80 degrees outside. I would have to go at like 6. Yeah right! 😂

My son watched me do the yoga and said he does a lot of the same positions in karate so I asked if he wanted to do it with me and I got a funny look in return. He played video games with his friend for 3 hours. The mom didn’t even knock on the door to pick his friend up, just called him to come out. Umm, okay. Whatever. They had fun and want to play more often. That’s fine with me! Both of their dads are tow truck drivers so I feel like they have a lot in common.

I talked to my friends teenage daughter about getting my dad’s car out of here as management is asking me when it will be gone. She is struggling on minimum wage but wants the car. I told her to pay when she can, she just needs to get it. Her mom is my friend so I’m not worried about getting paid. I also watched the latest Starwars on Netflix. It was sad to remember that Carrie Fisher died while making this. They did a good job finishing the movie even without her!

Today, I have church this morning (my son wants to go at 8 but he’s asleep so I’m waking him up for the 9:30) and then no plans. How nice is that? I’m thinking of cooking on YouTube this afternoon since my mom will be at work. Maybe keto cheese sausage balls? It’s a recipe from kaseytrenum.com and they do taste good! How can I make a video where I cut from putting them in the oven until they’re done? That will be my next thing to figure out. Ooh! Maybe the keto biscuits! Those are the best and it’s like having biscuits in the morning! There’s even a gravy keto recipe so you can have biscuits and gravy. Yummy!

I almost forgot to mention that my cousin said he is coming to Houston in August! His wife “dragged” him to Cabo this week with their friends. He says it’s not his favorite thing but he went. Must be nice! I hope everyone has a great day. If you know how to do the video, let me know, otherwise I will be googling it!

I got back to it!

I sent a friend a text last night and realized how funny it probably sounded to anyone that doesn’t know me (like his fiancé). I said, “Hey! I finally got off my butt today!” I had not exercised since May 5th! What’s that, 2 weeks??? I have been so tired and worn out but I broke through that last night. FINALLY-FREAKING-LY!

I got home from driving Ms. Sick at 5:30pm. I went upstairs, took off my shoes, and laid down. Not even 10 minutes after that, I had my headphones on and started listening to some great older songs that really get me moving like Pump Up The Volume and Pump Up The Jam. I decided right then to go out walking. So I did. It was 97 degrees outside (that’s 36C to the rest of the world). I walked for 33 minutes. By the time I got home, I seriously thought I was going to pass out. Why I didn’t just go to the gym and use the treadmill, I don’t know. I just wanted to be outside.

All I could think was how the pool would feel really good right about then so guess what I did? YEP, I came home, changed my clothes, and went to the pool. I did another 30 minutes of laps and it felt so good after that walking.

So I came back home after chatting with a few neighbors (in a dripping wet swimsuit) and took a shower.

After I was done and all clean, I wanted a snack. I went downstairs and got 3 of my homemade keto peanut butter cookies and a container of sugar free white chocolate dipping sauce and ate it all. I even licked the dipping container! It was so good, I can’t believe it’s on my plan!

And I played with my dog 🐕

I have the cutest little girl! My son did not go to bed until after 10pm because he was doing schoolwork and showering. I was not happy about it either! Crazy child.

Today I am taking Styled to get her hair dyed and then this afternoon taking Ms. Sick to get her hair done again. I took her to her doctor yesterday and he said she could eat again so she took me to this health food place that has a restaurant. I got a grass fed burger with Monterey Jack cheese on it with pickles. It was really good!!!

Then she had me take her to this other store with all healthy options and I found the keto version of Andes Mints! 2 carbs for chocolate mint? Yes please!

This place also had jerky but not beef jerky. Nope, VENISON jerky! I absolutely love venison (sorry deer). So I bought one of those too.

I will have this today. I am really looking forward to it!

Anywho, that’s all that’s going on here! I pray I get off my butt again today and keep moving. I was so happy last night so I just need to keep remembering that!

Another crazy day

I went grocery shopping for Ms. Sick. She’s really sick. I feel bad for her. She’s pretty young too (late 70’s I think) so that’s even worse. I also drove for Lyft most of the day.

My very first rider was a guy in town for work. I picked him up at his hotel and he was English. Btw, I absolutely adore the English accent! He said he was in IT so I mentioned how much I loved the show The IT Crowd and then he went on to tell me what I need to watch next. Spaced with Simon Pegg (my favorite which I mentioned) and an old show called Frenchie and Saunders. Since I was a huge Absolutely Fabulous fan, Jennifer Saunders in another show will be great! I’m just sorry that I couldn’t talk to this guy some more. He was really nice!

No airport runs today thankfully. I took this woman from Chicago (she lives here now) to work and she was telling me to go around cars and cut through traffic and she was looking for openings. I got her to work in 11 minutes (the gps said it would take 19) and she bitched! OMG woman…be ready when I show up instead of making me wait on you for 7 minutes and maybe you won’t have to act like that!

My last 2 guys were business men here from New York. I took them from their office to their downtown hotel at 5pm so it took an hour to get there. I screwed up though. I let them out on the side of the hotel where the bar is instead of dropping them at the front. The guy still tipped me though so maybe they wanted a drink? Lol

After that, I decided to go to the grocery store because I really didn’t want to go home yet but I was ready to be done working for the day. I wandered around for an hour looking for low carb foods. I found some too! I couldn’t believe it either.

I had the chips tonight and they filled me up. I guess 20 grams of protein will do that! I have been craving ice cream since it’s hot outside (supposed to be 93 tomorrow). I can’t wait to try that, and yes, I saw it has sugar and no fat. I still want to try it. For breakfast today is the quiche. Has anyone had those before? They look yummy! Special K has a few different kinds too. For the crackers, I also got some jalapeño flavored cream cheese. Yummy!

I haven’t been posting about exercise because I haven’t been doing any lately. I’m trying to get this diet down pat and since I haven’t had any energy for the past few weeks, I just stopped exercising. It hasn’t slowed my weight loss down (yet) and I WILL get back to it. I’m waiting on these blood test results too. Maybe those will tell me what’s going on and what I need to do to get back to it. I haven’t been eating much again which I’m sure affects my energy level which is why I went shopping. I also bought a few low carb snacks from Amazon the other night. I really need variety if you can’t tell!

So I should have enough snacks for a while. If you have ever had any of these, please let me know. The chips I ate tonight were perfect! I am really hoping that having these will get me more energy and get me moving more.

Last night I took a selfie with the cat. He was under my feet and I picked him up and took a shot.

I am excited how thin my face is getting! And I love my hair color! The second picture of me is awful but the cat was still! Anyone know how to make the 2 pictures where I look good AND the cat is still? LOL

That’s all for the stuff yesterday. Today is doctor, Lyft, new client, the maybe Mr. 95 year old. At least I hope so. I miss him!
