Different kind of day for me

Started out normal. Wake up at 5, shower at 5:30, wake kid up at 6, out the door by 7. He wanted donut holes so we left a few minutes early and went by Shipley’s. Then I took him to school and off I went to to get my blood drawn. Then to the doctor. Then home.

Now my plan WAS to go to work. That didn’t happen. I was asleep by 1pm and did not wake up until 3:30! My sons karate class is at 6 so I didn’t want to risk being across town so I didn’t work. Didn’t cook either.

While he was in karate, I decided to get off my arse and get a workout in. I ended up doing 45 minutes on the treadmill. I started with a plan of 30 minutes and then just kept going for 45.

I was a little red when I finished. I was sweating before I even started and have no clue what that’s about but I still did it!

Before I went to the gym, I looked in my mothers purse cabinet to find a small bag that I could put over my shoulder while I was working out and walking to and from the gym. What I found was even better! I found my dad’s fanny pack. I tried it on and it fit. I am so excited that I can wear something that small (my dad was pretty thin). I had my friend put it around her waist and I only need about 2-3 more inches to be her size! Woo hoo! Another non scale victory!

I also went through all of the keys that were hanging up in the kitchen. I tested every key on every lock and these are the ones that don’t fit a darn thing in our house.

We ended up with about 7 keys hanging up. And 2 are neighbors from where I used to live! I need to take those to them. Well, grandma (my friends grandmother that has told me to call her grandma) will probably tell me to keep hers.

My dinner was a little weird. 2 slices cheddar cheese, 2 slices Monterey Jack jalapeƱo cheese, a low carb tortilla with butter and Himalayan salt, and 2 peanut butter keto cookies.

That’s different, right? Lol I enjoyed every bite!

And my calories/macros were great too! It was a good day even though I made $0. There’s always today!

Today I will be driving for the company. I slept well and got exercise so I should be good to go!

I am so glad it’s done for today!

I usually blog in the morning and let you guys know what I’m up against for the day. Today, I woke up at 6, showered, got the kid to school, got gas, and picked up my 95 year old to take him to work at 7:30. Not a lot of time to talk, let alone blog!

After taking him to work, I chatted with my best friend while I drove to the 2nd job. I drove her around for almost 2 hours.

She wanted me to follow her in everywhere to hold doors for her and help her find groceries. So we finally went to her local HEB (Houston grocery store). We walked around the store and got everything on her list. I had parked right in front of the exit in a handicap spot so she would be right there when we were done. After check out, she asks me to bring the car up to get her. I reminded her where the car was and took her 4 bags (with no handles) out to the car without taking her cart away too. I left the passenger side door open for her. She just stands there outside the store door looking at me! I wave for her to come on, try and coax the woman over, anything I can do to not have to pull the wrong way in front of cars to let her happy butt in the car. She just stands there looking at me. Finally I get back out of my car, slam the passenger side door, and pull up facing all these cars and she just saunters over and gets in. What kills me is that her first words are, “Sorry I’m so tired today.” Really? OMG woman. I was 10 feet away from where you are standing. You would rather walk in front of cars to get in than walk 10 feet???? Okay, okay, I didn’t say anything, but I thought it!!!

After that, time to go see original cranky client and have her son pay me (he’s 2 weeks behind) since he was visiting this weekend from Paris (must be nice to live overseas and be able to fly back and forth every few months). I took the check to the bank when I left there (I stayed and chatted for about an hour). Now I’m just waiting for the bank to clear it so I can pay these caregivers what they are due. Only 2 weeks late with one and a week late with the other. šŸ˜³

After that, back down to the airport to pick up Mr. 95 year old and take him home. That thankfully was uneventful. After that, I go to my mom’s house. I cleaned out all of the shelves in the bookcases in what will be my son’s room. I actually moved all of the books into my moms bedroom so she can decide what to keep, what to donate, and figure out where to put the rest of them. I put all of her 20 year old painting stuff (she made t-shirt dresses back in the day) in the hallway. I found really old magazines from my dad’s old job, directories from both of their old jobs, and countless other crap that I don’t know what to do with. The old magazines and directories are being trashed. I left a few things on the shelves to remind myself to ask her what to do with them.

So! Under these shelves are cabinets. I was sweating so bad after the first hour of doing the shelves that I haven’t started them but oh my, they are also filled with crap! My son went upstairs to look and said “Wow mom, you did a lot today!” Thanks for cleaning those out.” Aww, he’s so sweet! I only banged my toe once too so I’m feeling proud of that (my mom doesn’t allow shoes upstairs so I was barefoot).

We are finally back at our condo. I should be cleaning since the realtor is coming tomorrow but I’m too tired. I’m about to turn on Netflix! Chat later!


I almost called his post Waking before I realized my mistake. That would be a whole different subject!!!

I need your help. Especially the trainers or gym rats or people that take their exercise seriously. I walked this morning like I said I would. I checked my stats when I got home and saw my heart rate was 171 during my walk. Is that safe for a 44 year old at 200 pounds? I’m alive, I could speak while I walked (I know this because I said good morning to a couple people on the road with me). It just worries me because I don’t think it’s ever been that high!!!

I am walking faster and farther than ever which is awesome. Even after taking 3 days off, I did better than the past 2 weeks.

The average heart rate per minute looks good, I’m just worried about that time I was at 171. Plus being at peak heart rate for 22 minutes, can that be good???

So! I also had my son with me. He jogged about a quarter of a mile and then walked another quarter of a mile to his old school and then turned around and walked back home. I told him just go a bit farther jogging each day and he will build up strength and sustainability. If he wants to do track, he has to be able to run. I walked the entire time other than when I had to run across a side street in order for a car to not run me over – I was there first but I don’t trust anybody these days.

My goal is to walk to my Mom’s house and back. It’s a mile and a half each way. I think I am going to have to get up earlier and leave earlier to do that. Today I would have made it to her house but not back home so I need to keep practicing. We left at 7am. It was already 80 degrees and humid. Maybe if I’m up at 5, I will be ready to go by 6-6:30. One reason we left so late was getting my son to get out the door. He didn’t want to. I don’t think he slept last night. When I woke up, he was awake and said that he woke up in the middle of the night to an ear bleed. There was absolutely nothing in his ear, I looked with a flashlight. So I still made him go out with me. Now he can sleep from now through to tomorrow when we do it again. He said he’s willing. Plus I think we need to go daily to get in shape. I also still need to get him using weights too. He doesn’t want to. If I don’t push a little, he will never do better though!

Yesterday my sons friend came over for the day from 10am-6pm. I got both kids lunch at Sonic (hotdogs) and then cooked macaroni and cheese plus meatloaf muffins for dinner. His friend had never had meatloaf and he said he liked it. He ate all of it so I guess he did. He seems like a good kid. I told his mother he can come anytime. She doesn’t speak much English (another reason I really need to learn Spanish) but she can understand me so it was good.

Here we go again…another Monday

Good morning!!!

I did NOT cook yesterday. My ex-husband called and asked if he could come visit his son. Since by law I have to let him see his child, I let him. Since he was here, I went and helped my mother and ran an errand.

I called and asked my mom if I could use her minivan to pick up a freezer I had bought but couldn’t fit in my car. She said, “Of Course BUT you will have to do some things to have room for the box.”

1. Empty out the minivan of cat food, a hammock, hanging clothes, a ladder, 2 decorations, and move my huge Christmas bow.

2. Hook up the Apple TV for me.

3. Make sure everything is put away and lock up the house.

Umm, I really needed the vehicle so okay, I’ll do it. I hooked up MY older model Apple TV in her bedroom and even signed in to everything for her. I’m glad I gave her my older one and took the new one like she suggested. The older model remotes have direction buttons, an enter key, a menu button (used to go back if you don’t know), and a play/pause button. The new ones are completely different! You have to scroll using the top part of the remote, click enter in the top part. I’m not sure she would have been able to use the new one. In this picture, the old remote is on the left. Which on do you like better for an elderly woman?

So after that was done, I went and picked up my 5 cubic foot freezer. It is totally awesome! I can’t wait to find a good sale and fill it up with stuff we like. My pothead neighbor and his friend came out and helped my ex-husband bring it inside for me. I’m going to have to make him cookies for the help. It’s a bit heavy. I’m so happy with this though. It’s quiet, it’s small, and it fits perfectly where I wanted to put it! It looks like it will fit a lot of food too. When frozen vegetables are on sale for a dollar, when Blue Bell ice cream is on sale for $2.99 a half gallon (not often), when fried fish is on sale at Costco, and when beef is on sale for a dollar or two a pound, these are all good things to have extras of!

I went to bed at 10:30 last night. I planned on waking up at 5:30am, getting out the door by 6:30, and going walking using Zombies, Run. Well, dammit, I turned off my alarm at 5:30, 6, and 6:30 and woke up on my own at 7. Oops!!! So if I go walking around 8, it will already be hot as hell (not desert hot but still hot and humid), AND I will end up probably having sweat dripping in my eyes. Plus I just realized my headphones are dead so I would have to go with no music. I can’t do that! I think I will do weights today and get up tomorrow and go walking then. I let myself down by oversleeping but maybe I needed the rest. I haven’t gone for a walk in 3 days already! I really wanted to get off my butt. I HAVE to go tomorrow morning. I don’t have a job tomorrow until 10:30 so I will have time.

So today, no jobs. Since I didn’t cook yesterday, I will today. My son asked if his friend could come over. Actually, his friend text him at 10pm last night and asked if he could come over. Same friend that was here the other day too. I don’t mind. I’ll let them play and watch TV while I cook. I’ll probably end up baking something for them too. I’ll ask if they want brownies, cookies, or cupcakes. If I gave my son the choice, he would say brownies and they would all be gone an hour after they came out of the oven. I don’t think I’m ready for teenage boys to hang out! I will have NO food left!!!

School doesn’t start here for another week. I need to go to the store and stock up on lunch stuff for school but not until this weekend. I had 12 lunchables in the fridge for my son to take to school when I went shopping and I looked yesterday and there are 2. 2!!! So he’s been eating one a day instead of eating what I cook. That child of mine!!! He wants me to find him a lunchbox that is small enough to fit in his backpack this year. It has to hold a lunchable and a drink because we are not going to go through what we did last year. Last year, he qualified for free lunch at school but never ate there. He said the line was too long and he wasn’t hungry (yeah right), he just wanted to chat with his buddies. So I packed lunch for him and would then have to go to the lost and found a few days later to get back his lunchbox. Geez child!!! His backpack is already 15 pounds (I weighed it last year) so adding something else doesn’t sound good. His school doesn’t have lockers so the kids have to carry everything with them everywhere. They get 4 minutes between classes too. Completely different from when I was in school! Since he needs to eat, I’m going to have to go look for one though. I have all week. This looks perfect! Now I just need to find one locally.

So have a good Monday. I guess I need to get up and get moving. I want to make a solar eclipse box in case these 2 boys decide last minute that they want to look at it today. You can make one using 2 index cards or even a cereal box, look it up! You do not have to buy stuff to be able to watch it today!

Woo hoo

I woke up at 5:30 to a bang (I have NO clue where it came from) and then my alarm went off. I was freaked and was telling myself oh no, you're not going anywhere this morning. Plus my son was still awake from waking up at 7:30pm and swears it wasn't him.

An hour later, after an energy drink, I got up, put my tennis shoes on, and went. I was a mile and a half in 30 minutes with no stopping, even the traffic lights were working with me!

Now I'm home, have stretched, and sweating down my face but I'll get in the shower next so it's okay.

One job today. Take the couple to the grocery. I need stamps so that's good for me too.

Exercise – walking

So I started exercising today!!!

I did not go to the park; my son said he wanted donuts so we walked there and back and I got 30 minutes of walking. That's great!!!

I woke up at 5:30am, took 30 minutes to start getting moving because I'm so not used to this anymore, and then got on my tennis shoes and we headed out. My son has not been to sleep yet which is why he was awake and ready to go.

I'm proud of myself this morning for actually doing what I said I was going to do this week.

Now tomorrow I'm thinking 30 minutes of my 5 pound weights instead of cardio. That way, I don't get bored of walking and I definitely need weight workouts! Yes, I have to start with small weights since I haven't done it in so long.

I'm sweating my buns off while I cool down (I already stretched) as you can probably tell in the picture below and then it's into the shower I go!
